Green Thumb

…Historically, frogs and and other amphibians have been survivors. They have lived through the last two extinction episodes. So it was strange and alarming when amphibians began to disappear at unprecidented rates across the globe… - National Wildlife Federation

Green Thumb is named after a Sally Hansen’s Beauty Supply nail polish. Its story aims to conflate the rhetoric of self-care and commercial beauty products with the environmental phenomenon known as ‘Amphibian Decline’, which marks the global collapse of amphibian populations. Green Thumb questions the marketing that binds beauty to ethical behavior—the present-day ethics of green consumption and greenwashing in the wake of grand ecological change.
